HE'S barely 31, but Adam Scott was the old man at the top of a youthful leaderboard at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after the third round in Akron, Ohio.
Scott regained sole possession of the lead at Firestone Country Club with a four-under 66, moving to 12 under.
It gave him a one-stroke advantage over fellow Queenslander Jason Day and Japan's 19-year-old phenomenon Ryo Ishikawa.
The 23-year-old Day matched Scott's 66, while Ishikawa rocketed into contention with a bogey-free 64.
American Keegan Bradley, 25, and 28-year-old Scotsman Martin Laird shared fourth, a shot back.
Ishikawa would be the youngest winner on the US PGA Tour in more than 100 years, while Day would become the second-youngest winner of a World Golf Championships event.
Asked if it made him feel old, Scott said he felt like a teenager, such was the state of his game.
