Two members of Great Britain & Ireland’s Walker Cup team have made the last 16 of the US Amateur – one of the major championships of the amateur game. England’s Tom Lewis and Jack Senior, numbers nine and 20 in the world respectively, have made it through two rounds of knock-out match-play golf at Erin Hills Golf Club in Wisconsin, USA.
Today, Lewis faces world number one Patrick Cantlay, who earlier this year finished as leading amateur at the US Open where he tied for 21st. Jack Senior faces John Hahn from Las Vegas. Hahn will hope for a convincing performance, with a victory giving him the chance to claim one of the final three spots available on the United States Walker Cup team.
The Walker Cup will be played at Royal Aberdeen on Saturday 10 September and Sunday 11 September. Tickets are available here.
