AP1
The Titleist 712 AP1 Irons are dual-cavity irons evolved from the original AP1 Irons released in 2009.
The stainless steel body and high-density tungsten sole weight in the 712 AP1 irons offer increased forgiveness and feel, with a slightly different look. Titleist have managed to increase the MOI (Moment of Ineria) by 4% creating more forgiveness in the long irons, and higher ball speeds on off-center hits throughout the set. The progressively reduced blade length means improved feel and control with the short irons. The 712 AP1s have a traditional head-shape with a bevelled topline aimed to improve confidence at address.
The grooves on the Titleist 712 AP1s are modified U grooves that conform with the R&A and USGA specifications.
AP2
The Titleist 712 AP2 Irons are a multi-material iron designed for the serious mid to low handicap golfer.
The forged carbon steel head is aided by a high-density tungsten weight, and creates increased playability. Titleist wanted to improve distance control and achieve a more consistent ball speed with the 712 AP2 irons. This was done by increasing the MOI by 7% without impacting workability or control. The tuned cavity insert in the Titleist 712 AP2 Irons adds an improved solid feel to the set, while the reduced sole width on the 8-iron, 9-iron and PW adds even more control and improves turf interaction.
The Titleist 712 AP2 Irons have a more square profile than before, and feature a small progressive offset design for improved shot control throughout the set.
