The 2012 English Seniors Open Stroke Play Championship, scheduled for Aldeburgh and Thorpeness Golf Clubs in Suffolk, has been brought forward one week.
The 54-hole championship will now be played on 30th May – 1st June following consultations with the two clubs.
A spokesperson for the EGU points out that the Spring Bank Holiday is a week later next year – 4th and 5th June - and takes in an extra day for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He also stated that the move was unavoidable and that both clubs are happy with the decision.
It means that the English Seniors now clashes with the Irish Open Seniors, but to move it back a week later would mean a clash with the European Seniors Championship.
