American Bo Van Pelt birdied five of the last eight holes to claim an impressive six-shot victory in the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia.
The 36 year old fired a closing 64 at The Mines in Kuala Lumpur to finish on 23 under, comfortably clear of compatriot Jeff Overton and Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson.
Overton, whose second-placed finish is his fifth on a circuit where he has yet to win, appeared to have a chance to move only one behind on the 12th, but three-putted for bogey while Van Pelt got up and down for par.
The gap then went to five when he hit approaches to within two feet of the next two flags and further birdies at the 15th and 17th were icing on the cake.
Van Pelt's only full PGA Tour victory came in a play-off two years ago and he has let slip a number of chances to win since.
Jacobson finished with a 68 for an aggregate score of 16 under.
