The latest edition of Golf Worlds top 100 courses on Continental Europe (Excluding the UK and Ireland) makes interesting reading with some surprising choices .I guess that for most people living in the UK and Ireland looking for some overseas golf would choose Spain or Portugal as their destination. On the other hand not many of us would consider France or Holland for our much needed golfing break. Now you are really in for a surprise because Les Bordes and Morfontaine in France are ranked numbers 1 and 2 respectively and in total France has 6 of the top 20 courses and 17 of the top 100 and perhaps even more surprisingly Holland has 3 of the top 10 courses with Royal Hague being the highest ranked course at number 3.Spain does feature well in the rankings with Valderrama being the top ranked course, coming in at number 6 and in general they have 13 of the top 100 courses. The good news for us locally is that Las Colinas is a new entry in the rankings coming in at number 73.This does raise the raise the profile of the area but there is always a price to pay for such fame and adulation and it is usually the golfer who ultimately has to pay the price and this is very much the case here because Las Colinas will increase their prices from June to reflect this enhanced status in the golfing world.
