Nine Champions pros teeing it up at the Masters


There are nine Champions Tour professionals competing this week at the Masters Tournament:
Of the nine Champions Tour competitors:
• Langer has the largest winning margin (4 strokes in 1993).
• O'Meara played the most years before winning for the first time (his win in 1998 was his 15th start).
• Mize (1987) and Stadler (1982) won in playoffs while Watson (1979) was defeated in a playoff.
• Crenshaw (1984, 1995), Langer (1985, 1993) and Watson (1977, 1981) won twice.
• None of the nine have made an ace during the Masters.
• Watson (1982), Crenshaw (1987), Lyle (1997-98) and O'Meara (2007) have won the Par-3 Contest.
• Crenshaw and Couples have both made 25 cuts at the Masters. Watson has made 24. (Jack Nicklaus holds the record with 37 made cuts).
• Couples (1983-2007) shares the record (with Gary Player/1959-82) for most consecutive cuts made with 23. Watson is third with 21 consecutive cuts made. Langer has 19 and Crenshaw has 13.
• Watson has 15 top-10 finishes. (Nicklaus has the most with 22).
Other facts:
• The average age of the 75 winners at Augusta National is 32.66.
• O'Meara is the oldest first --time winner of the Masters (41 years, 3 months, 29 days).
• Crenshaw will make his 41st consecutive start at the 2012 Masters. It is the longest current streak.

1992 champion Fred Couples has the lowest 72-hole score among 50-and-over players at Augusta.
• Couples leads the scoring average of players with 100 rounds or more at Augusta National with 71.90 from 104 rounds.
• Langer will play his 100th tournament round at Augusta National in the second round of the 2012 Masters.
• In 1991, Langer birdied the 14th hole in each of the four rounds, the only player to achieve this feat at No. 14 in tournament history.
• Crenshaw recorded an 11 on No. 15 in the 1997 Masters and shares the highest score in tournament history on No. 15 with Jumbo Ozaki (1987) andIgnacio Garrido (1998).
• Lyle started 69-86 in the 2010 Masters, the third-most contrasting start in history. Craig Wood began with 88-67 in 1936 and Mike Donald opened with 64-82 in 1990.
• Couples has the low 72-hole score at the Masters for any player aged 50 and over. Couples was 50 when he shot 279 (66-75-68-70) at age 50 in 2010.
• Watson made 22 birdies in the 1997 Masters. The most birdies (25) were made by Phil Mickelson at the 2001 Masters.
• Lyle (1988) and O'Meara (1998) are two of just four players who birdied the final hole of regulation to win the Masters. Arnold Palmer (1960) and Mickelson (2004) are the other two.
• Mize was one of a record five opening-round co-leaders in the 1993 Masters after shooting 67. There were also five first-round co-leaders in 1964.
• Couples will make his 601st PGA TOUR career start at the 2012 Masters.
