Travelers Championship 2012: Tee Times, Date and TV Schedule

Webb Simpson will return to the course four days after winning the US Open to headline the Travelers Championship. Although the tournament isn't on the same level as last week's major, it's still one of the key cogs on the PGA Tour schedule.
The TPC at River Highlands course will also provide players with a stark contrast to the Olympic Club. Whereas Simpson won at the Lake Course with a score of one-over-par, the average winning score in the Travelers over the past five years is nearly 18-under.
Here's a look at all the important information for the event, including some notable tee times, a television schedule and some golfers to watch as they attempt to earn a big victory.

Hunter Mahan
After a red-hot start to the season with two wins in the first three months, Mahan has cooled off a bit lately. Even though he finished 38th at the US Open last week, he did manage to avoid the terrible round that doomed most players.
He has a great chance to get back on track at the Travelers. It's an event that fits his playing style. The last tournament he won, the Shell Houston Open, was also conducive to low scores and allowed him to utilize his terrific greens in regulation percentage.
The key for Mahan will be getting off to a good start on the first nine holes on Thursday. He hasn't been in top form, so building a little confidence with some early birdies will go a long way in helping him find the winner's circle.

Webb Simpson
It's always difficult to predict how a player will react to winning a major championship. While Simpson has likely endured a hectic schedule over the past couple days, he should also have plenty of momentum after his great play on the weekend.
If he's able to avoid any problems with mental fatigue, there's no reason he can't get right back into contention at the Travelers. He leads the PGA Tour in birdie average and it's going to take a lot of them to win this event.
At 26, Simpson has quickly established himself as one of the sport's rising stars. Look for him to get off to a solid start, but I don't think he'll have enough left in the tank to pull off another victory. It's just too much to ask.

Fredrik Jacobson
Jacobson was in the US Open mix at one-over-par heading into Sunday. He wasn't able to maintain that form, shooting a 75 to drop out of contention down the stretch, but it was still an impressive performance by the 37-year-old veteran.
He finished in a tie for 15th, which is interesting because last year he finished 14th and proceeded to win the Travelers the next week. So the defending champion will be looking to match that outcome on a course he clearly has a good read on.
For Jacobson, it all comes down to putting. He ranks 125th on tour in that key statistic. Since this event basically comes down to which player takes the most advantage from their looks at birdie, he'll need to find a groove to repeat.
