Tseng expresses interest in competing on the PGA Tour

Perhaps following in the footsteps of idol and mentor Annika Sorenstam, world No. 1 Yani Tseng said she would like to tee it up in a PGA Tour event.

“If an opportunity presents itself, I would like to play in a PGA tournament to learn more from male golfers,” she said on Saturday after the second round of the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open in China, according to CNA.

Sorenstam played in the 2003 Colonial, missing the cut. Michelle Air has tried her hand against the men on several occasions, as has Se Ri Pak.

Tseng would not be interested, however, in winning. Much like Sorenstam prefaced her appearance at the Ft. Worth atop, Tseng seeks a challenge.

“I wouldn’t care about the results because I’d just want to enjoy the feeling of playing with guys and learning from them to further improve my skills,” Tseng said.

Tseng has won seven LPGA events and 11 times around the world in 2011.
