With play called for Saturday after thunderstorms struck South Carolina, the trio of Peter Hanson, Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter – tied for seventh just four shots back – had their say on the day’s play, the subsequent suspension and their chances tomorrow.
Peter Hanson – Two under par through 12 holes on Saturday
“It was pretty disappointing to stop when we did because I had made a good birdie on the 12th and could felt that I could get a bit of momentum going. But we saw the storms coming in and it was inevitable that they were going to have to call it.
“Tomorrow is going to be a long day and seems there is more uncertainty with the weather, but everyone is in the same position in that respect so you just have to get your head down and deal with it the best you can.
“I am playing well and hopefully if I get a few breaks here and there I can really contend coming down that back nine of the final round.”
Graeme McDowell – Two under par through 11 holes on Saturday
“We've done well this week to avoid the storms that are pretty inevitable in this part of the country this time of the year. The PGA have done a good job of keeping things moving.
“I could have been a couple better today. I made a mess of number seven but apart from that I played lovely, left a couple putts out there, and I’m right where I want to be.
“I’m in decent shape and on 12, so I’ve just got to come out guns blazing in the morning and try to finish three or four under par. I'm looking forward to it, I’m feeling up for it and it's wide open.”
Ian Poulter – One over par through eight holes on Saturday
“A couple of the tee shots that caught me out today were because I held it up against the wind too much. It was almost like I had got too used to the stronger winds yesterday so I caught myself out a little bit there.
“I would actually prefer a little bit of extra wind tomorrow – that would be good for me I think. But the confidence is good and I am feeling good. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow but the rewards will be worth it if we can get the job done.”
